Triple Olympic medalist in swimming Yulia Efimova competed in the 100 meter breaststroke final of the Vladimir Salnikov Cup wearing a gladiator costume, the symbol of the Spartak football team.
On Sunday, Spartak-supporting Efimova became second in the deciding round, losing to world record holder Evgenia Chikunova. The 31-year-old athlete started with a sword in hand and a red and white raincoat with the football club logo, and Efimova placed the head of a life-size gladiator doll on top of Efimova’s. cap.
The Salnikov Cup international tournament takes place in St. Petersburg.
