Figure skater Gorbatcheva: “I am very happy to have won two silver medals at the Russian Grand Prix, but there were some mistakes”

Russian figure skater Alina Gorbacheva said that it was necessary to continue working and correcting mistakes, despite the silver medals at the stages of the Russian Grand Prix.

Gorbacheva won silver at the Omsk and Kazan stages.

— You finished the Russian Grand Prix series with two silver medals. Are you satisfied with your result? Did you expect such a successful start to the season?

“Of course I am very happy to have received two silver medals, but there were mistakes at both stages. In the first one, I performed the free program quite poorly, in the second one, I did the free program better, but not completely, and there were flaws in the short. There is still a lot of work to do. I will try to improve so that I can approach the Russian Championship in better shape.

— Did we have the feeling in Omsk that the gold medal was very close?

“I don’t think about it, especially during competitions, because it’s confusing. You start to think, “What if I do something wrong and lose my leadership position.” This makes it more difficult to concentrate on the work at hand. Therefore, I always think that I need to do everything 100%, show my maximum, and then the judges will decide who will take which place,” Gorbacheva said, as quoted by Metaratings.ru.

Gorbachev was among the participants in the Russian Championship, which will be held in Chelyabinsk from December 20 to 24.
