World record holders Kliment Kolesnikov and Evgenia Chikunova have been recognized by the All-Russian Swimming Federation (RSF) as the best Russian swimmers of 2023.
The award ceremony for the winners of the FSM Prize takes place in St. Petersburg.
Kolesnikov, a two-time Olympic medalist, set a world record in the 50-meter backstroke in 2023, and European short course champion Chikunova set a world record in the 200-meter breaststroke. Both records are ratified by the International Swimming Federation (World Aquatics).
Alexander Stepanov and Yana Kurtseva were recognized as the best athletes in open water swimming. Egor Kornev and Ksenia Misharina won the “Discovery of the Year” nomination.
