Figure skater Gorbatcheva: “I like skating in Russia, we have strong competitions”

Russian figure skater Alina Gorbacheva commented on the ban on national athletes participating in international tournaments.

Russian figure skaters have not participated in international competitions since March 2022 following a ban by the International Skating Union (ISU).

— Speaking of goals, is there any resentment that the best years of your professional career happened during the period of isolation?

— There is still strong competition between girls in Russia. Of course, it’s a bit sad that we can’t compete on the international stage, but we have some pretty strong and interesting competitions to compete in. I like to ride with us.

— So there are enough internal competitions at this stage?

— Of course, I would like to perform on the international stage. I think every girl would like this. They are still different countries, different rivals, different spectators. At least you see something new. But, I repeat, we have a lot of strong girls with whom we can compete,” Gorbachev quotes Metaratings.ru.
