The 37-year-old player previously suspended performances, but then returned to the sport
Forward Cherkasy Mavp Andrey Kalnichenko announced his retirement as a player. The basketball player announced his decision at a press conference after the match with BIPA (81:64).
“Today was my final game. I am leaving the club, ending my playing career. I want to say a big, big thank you to everyone. To the fans, management, players, coaches, everyone,” the player said.
37-year-old Kalnichenko also previously played for Khimik, Odessa, Ternopil. The forward suspended his career at the beginning of 2022. However, then the player resumed his performances in Romania, after which he returned to Cherkasy Mavpy.
This season Kalnichenko played 16 matches. The forward averaged 10.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.0 assists.
Cherkasy Mavpy takes second place in the FAVBET Super League. Artem Slipenchuk’s team will play the next match in January.
