Athletistic/ Figure skating. This week will take place the main event of this season of Russian figure skating. We are talking about the 2024 Russian Championship. Skaters have already entered the season after participating in the stages of the Russian Grand Prix. They now have to compete for the title of national champion. In this article we have collected all the important information about the Russian championship.

Location

The Russian Figure Skating Championship will take place in Chelyabinsk. The competition will take place at the Traktor Ice Rink, where the local hockey club usually plays its home games. The capacity of the arena is 7,500 spectators. At the same time, the previous Russian championship was held there relatively recently. This happened in December 2020.

Calendar

The Russian Championship begins on Thursday, December 21 and will last until Sunday, December 24. In addition, the first three days will be competitive and on Sunday there will be demonstrations. We present to your attention the complete rental schedule. The time given is Moscow.

List of participants

It’s no secret that women’s singles skating attracts the most attention in Russia. There is a lot of loss here. Sofia Akatieva, who is the current champion of Russia, misses the championship. Elizaveta Tuktamysheva also misses the season. Anna Shcherbakova and Alexandra Trusova are still not returning to the ice. Among the participants, none have ever won the Russian Championship or the World Championship (Kamila Valieva’s title, won in December 2021, was vacated). However, the list of participants is very interesting and some of them will win the national championship for the first time.

The ranking in men’s single skating is also very interesting. Current Russian champion Evgeny Semenenko and current winner of the country’s Grand Prix final Pyotr Gumennik will perform. The 2020 European champion Dmitry Aliev and the holder of a similar title in 2022 Mark Kondratyuk will take to the ice.
