Acting head of the Russian Figure Skating Federation Anton Sikharulidze stated that there was no need to distinguish between the Russian Championship or the Spartakiad, these two tournaments are equivalent.

The Russian Figure Skating Championships will take place in Chelyabinsk from December 20 to 24. The Spartakiad of Russia’s Strongest is scheduled for February 9-18, 2024. Earlier, Deputy Governor of the Chelyabinsk region Vadim Evdokimov said that the figure skating tournament as part of the Spartakiad would take place in Magnitogorsk.

— In current conditions, the Russian figure skating championship is the main start. In accordance with regulations and federal law, we continue to train the Russian national team. To date, international competitions are closed for us, we cannot say that the Russian Championship is a selection for somewhere. Believe me, the title of champion of Russia itself is a lot. The Russian Championship is an independent tournament that determines the level of figure skating in Russia.

We must not announce what will be the crowning glory of the season. The Russian Championship is the most important tournament in all its forms throughout the country. There is also the Grand Prix Final, which is just as important. We have two equivalent tournaments: the Russian Championship and the Spartakiad. These two tournaments are the main ones.
