Olympic figure skating champion Kamila Valieva said she was happy with her performance in the short program at the Russian Championships in Chelyabinsk, despite some blemishes.

Valieva received 81.85 points for skating and took first place after the short program.

— Thanks to the fans, my heart sank. It was incredibly nice to have so much support and toys. I’m happy that I passed and showed a good performance. There were some gaps that needed to be worked on. It’s been a long time since I finished the short program, it was exciting, a good experience.

— How did you get into your character?

– Slowly. Compared to previous short programs, there are changes. I should be more fluid, have more points.
