Honorary vice-president of the International Skating Union (ISU) Alexander Lakernik said he would defend the interests and rights of judges criticized by Russian figure skaters.
— Can skaters openly criticize refereeing?
— Everyone must do what they want: athletes must skate, coaches must train them and judges must evaluate it. If anyone thinks it has been poorly reviewed, this can be discussed. But if every skater starts saying they were misjudged, they’ll go very far. If you are unhappy with something, be specific: what do you not like, what is your rating? Then we will discuss. No one bothers you to contact the federation, but only in detail.
Our judges are highly qualified and friendly. They want to give more money to athletes. If you can’t bet more, sorry, the rules cannot be ignored. I will defend the interests and rights of judges in general. But mistakes, of course, can happen. We are not all gods,” Lakernik said, as quoted by Sport24.
The competitive part of the Russian Figure Skating Championship will end on Saturday in Chelyabinsk.
