Competitions between the best Russian figure skaters and the leaders of the ISU Grand Prix would arouse interest, the coach of the Belarusian national team is sure

Coach of the Belarusian figure skating team Sergei Voronov told that he was very happy with the Russian men’s skating competition and would like to assess the level of the best singles skaters in comparison with the world leaders.

At the Russian Championships in Chelyabinsk, Evgeny Semenenko won gold in the men’s category with 294.75 points. Vladislav Dikidzhi finished second (293.74), third place was taken by Petr Gumennik (292.42).

— It’s been a long time since I saw such an interesting Russian men’s championship. It’s cool that Zhenya Semenenko won the Czech Republic for the second time. Now the guys have some interesting competition. They are all so different, especially the first three! Everyone is talented, interesting and extraordinary in their own way, with their own charisma and zest – Gumennik, Dikidzhi, Semenenko. Zhenya is quite experienced compared to these guys, as he has been to the Olympics and the World Championships.

Honestly, it would be interesting if Russia was allowed to participate and the top three competed against the finalists from the international Grand Prix stages. Because it’s a real level. In fact, I am very happy that such boys appeared. I cannot help but note that the St. Petersburg men’s single skating school is ahead of everyone, ”Voronov told .

Russian athletes have been suspended from participating in competitions under the auspices of the International Skating Union (ISU) due to the situation in Ukraine. In October, the ISU confirmed the decision to suspend the Russians.
