Verbov on Zenit’s victory in the Russian Cup: “I didn’t like the weakness with which they conceded the second match”

Head coach of Kazan “Zenith” Alexei Verbov said the team showed character in the BETSITI Russian Cup final against Dynamo Moscow, but he was not satisfied with the volleyball players’ performance in the second match.

On Sunday, Zenit won the Russian Volleyball Cup among men’s teams, beating Dynamo in the final with a score of 3-1 (28:26, 30:32, 25:17, 25:20).

– On the one hand, I did not like how we weakly distributed the second batch with our own hands. Don’t put your finger in the Dynamo’s mouth; if they smell blood, they can enter the game. There was an experiment inside. But we started the third and fourth matches well, the initiative was in our hands. I am very happy that the team did not lose courage and showed character.

In such matches it is very difficult to surprise yourself. We played a lot with Dynamo, and here, first of all, moral and strong-willed qualities play a role. The game was not clean on both sides, although there were some interesting moments. We won, which means that at the moment we are stronger,” Verbov said on the official website of the All-Russian Volleyball Federation (VFV).

Zenit won the Russian Cup for the 12th time in its history. For Verbov, this trophy became the third in a row in the Cup as head coach of Kazan.
