Figure skater Gubanova, who changed her nationality to Russia, was recognized as the best athlete of Georgia

Former Russian figure skater Anastasia Gubanova recognized as the best athlete in Georgia based on 2023 results, reports official site Georgian Olympic Committee.

This year, the 21-year-old won gold in single skating at the European Championships in Espoo (Finland) and also finished 14th at the world championships in Saitama, Japan.

In 2021, the Togliatti native changed her sports citizenship and started competing for Georgia.

National basketball team captain Tornike Shengelia, who played for CSKA Moscow from 2020 to 2022, was recognized as the best athlete in Georgia.
