#1 choice for this post – Ashworth from Newcastle
Manchester United reviews former athletic director Liverpool’s Julian Ward as one of the candidates for a similar position.
Dan Ashworth, currently Newcastle’s sporting director, is reportedly United’s first choice. However, according to analysts, it will be difficult for the Red Devils to make this transfer, even if the functionary himself agrees to change the club.
Ward has worked for Liverpool since 2011. In the summer of 2022, he replaced Michael Edwards as sports director, but left this post at the end of the 2022/23 season.
Structural changes are coming to Manchester United as part of the club’s turnaround strategy being implemented by the Red Devils’ new key shareholder, British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe.
Manchester United is in eighth place in the Premier League with 28 points after 18 rounds. The Red Devils’ next match will host Aston Villa on December 26th.
