Pleasant recognition for the Ukrainian national team player
The International Center for Sports Studies (CIES) presented its version best players of the year. The center’s experts compiled a list Top 10 2023 Players by Position. The only one Ukrainianranked among the 90 best players in the world (forwards and central defenders were rated in the same “ten”), turned out to be Alexander Zinchenko.
The Arsenal and Ukrainian national team footballer took eighth place in the list of the best left-backs in the world. The Ukrainian lost only to Theo Hernandez (Milan), Joaquin Piqueres (Palmeiras), Alex Grimaldo (Leverkusen), Frederic Oursnes (Benfica), Josko Gavrdiol (Manchester City), Alejandro Balde (Barcelona) and Dan Byrne (Newcastle).
An interesting situation has developed with the forwards. Harry Kane, Robert Lewandowski and Killian Mbappe did not even make it into the TOP 5. Moreover, Mbappe took only tenth place.
It is noteworthy that the list of the best players of 2023 did not include Cristiano Ronaldo, Leo Messi, Karim Benzema, or Neymar. But there was a place for Karasko, Tadic, Mitome.
If we talk about the team of the year, taking the first numbers of the “ten”, then it was based on the players of Manchester City, which won the English Premier League, the Champions League and the Club World Cup in 2023. The team included six City players.
The second place in terms of representation goes to Manchester United, which delegated two players. Also in the top 11 were one player each from Milan, Atlético Madrid and Arsenal.
