Olympic silver medalist in pole vault Angelique Sidorova could resume his career in the future. This opinion was expressed on by the first vice-president of the All-Russian Athletics Federation (ARAF) Irina Privalova .
Sidorova, 32, announced her retirement on December 9. The day before, World Athletics President Sebastian Coe said Russian athletes would not participate in athletics competitions at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
“There is always hope that an athlete of this level will recover after giving birth and continue her career. But it was probably a carefully considered decision she made. I wish him to find another path for the child to grow up. Perhaps one day this change will become more pronounced, but there is no escaping genetics. Or maybe in a year Angelica will come back? Everything is possible, let’s not close the doors. Current life is such that you never know what could happen tomorrow,” Privalova told the correspondent.
The Paris Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
