Athletistic/ Figure skating. Russia’s Honored Coach Tatiana Tarasova answered who she considers to be the athlete of 2023.
“I will nominate Roman Kostomarov. He won the fight for life,” Tarasova told SE.
Kostomarov was sent to intensive care in early 2023. The athlete was diagnosed with pneumonia.
Due to necrosis, the skater underwent several operations to amputate his limbs. On December 17, Kostomarov performed on the ice for the first time after surgery.
Currently, Russian skaters are suspended from international competitions.
