Senior coach of the Russian cross-country ski team Yuri Borodavko regretted that the Olympic champion Alexander Bolshunov cannot represent the country in international tournaments.
By decision of the FIS, Russian and Belarusian athletes have been suspended from international competitions since March 2022 due to the situation in Ukraine.
— Do you feel resentment that Alexander Bolshunov, in his prime, cannot show his level at international competitions?
— The question is very provocative. We do not choose the times in which we live. Everything is happening now and we cannot influence it. Therefore, Alexander now does everything to win every race. “I can’t speak for Sasha, but there is a slight disappointment that he won’t be able to represent himself and his country in international competitions, but there are circumstances beyond our control.” said Borodavko, quoted by Sport24.
