Athletistic/OI-2024. The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) has provided financial compensation to more than 120 athletes from 15 different federations who were unable to participate in international competitions, the TASS agency reported.

Athletes who have received compensation include 2016 Olympic champions, including handball player Anna Vyakhireva, who plays for Norwegian club Vipers, as well as Vladlena Bobrovnikova, who was treated for Hodgkin’s lymphoma and ended her professional career on July 20. Also among those who received compensation are silver medalists of the Tokyo Olympics in beach volleyball Oleg Stoyanovsky and Vyacheslav Krasilnikov, two-time Olympic champions in sabers Sofia Pozdnyakova and Yana Yegoryan, as well as the winner of the Tokyo Olympics in foil Marta Martyanova.

Earlier, the head of the ROC Stanislav Pozdnyakov announced that all current athletes who participated in the Olympic Games in different years will receive financial support in the absence of international competitions.
