Nottingham forward Wood becomes the fourth player to score a Premier League hat-trick against his former club

Attack Nottingham Forest Chris Wood went down in history English Premier League as the fourth football player who managed to distinguish himself hat-trick against the team for which he played earlier in this tournament.

Today, December 26, the New Zealand football player gave a benefit performance in the Lesnikov away match against Newcastle. Forest was losing 0:1, but then the 32-year-old center forward scored three goals from the 45th to the 60th minute.

Wood was bought by the Foresters from Newcastle last summer for €17 million.

Before Chris, three goals were scored in one Premier League match against the former team:

  • Andy Cole (Manchester United) – Newcastle in 1999;
  • Marcus Bent (Wigan) to Blackburn in 2007;
  • Joshua King (Watford) to Everton in 2021.

This victory was the first for Nuno Espirito Santo at the head of the new club. The Portuguese took charge of Nottingham less than a week ago.

Nottingham Forest are in 16th place with 17 points. Newcastle remained seventh, but could drop lower at the end of the round.
