Gutzeit: It is not possible to book all athletes

NOC is working on this issue

Chapter National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Ukraine Vadim Gutzeit stated that athletes could fall under general mobilization in Ukraine, since the NOC cannot provide them with reservations.

“We have worked and are working on this issue [бронирование спортсменов]. When I worked at the ministry, we also worked to book our athletes. Some of them are our reserved athletes, some of them are our reserved coaches. Unfortunately, we don’t book everyone, it’s not possible to book.”

In October, Gutzeit reported that 361 Ukrainian athletes and coaches died in the war with Russia. More than 3,000 athletes and coaches defend our land in the ranks of the Ukrainian defense forces.

Let us remember that in the war with Russia, former professional football players Alexander Gonchar and Roman Godovany, vice-president of the Ukrainian Chess Federation Artem Sachuk, Dynamo fan Sergei Pavlichenko and coach of the Chernigov Sports and Youth Sports School Vsevolod Bodun died in the war with Russia.

Also in November, multiple world champion in kickboxing Sergei Lysyuk, winner of the Ukrainian hockey championship as part of the White Leopard Alexey Loginov and master of sports in boxing Ivan Soltysik gave their lives for our country.

In the early hours of February 24, 2022, Russia launched rocket and air strikes on most Ukrainian cities and then launched a full-scale military invasion. The Russian war against Ukraine has continued for the 672nd day.
