Athletistic/ Figure skating. Olympic figure skating champion Russian Roman Kostomarov said he did not watch the Russian championship. The tournament took place from December 21 to 24 in Chelyabinsk.
“I didn’t have a chance to watch the performances at the national championship. I roughly know the results, who played how, but I didn’t see anything,” Kostomarov said according to Match TV.
Alexandra Stepanova and Ivan Bukin became Russian ice dancing champions at the competitions in Chelyabinsk. Among men, the strongest skater in the country was Evgeniy Semenenko, among girls – Adelia Petrosyan, and for sports couples – Anastasia Mishina and Alexander Gallyamov.
In January 2023, Roman Kostomarov was hospitalized with a severe form of pneumonia. As a result of complications, the 46-year-old skater developed tissue necrosis, which is why he underwent partial amputation of his arms and legs. Kostomarov now takes part in shows with prosthetics.
