Ederson named IFFHS Goalkeeper of the Year 2023

The Brazilian was ahead of Emiliano Martinez and Thibaut Courtois

Goalkeeper Manchester City Ederson recognized best goalkeeper of 2023 according to the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).

Ederson became the second Brazilian to receive this award. In 2019, Alisson Becker from Liverpool was recognized as the best goalkeeper according to IFFHS.

During the voting, Ederson scored 145 points. The top 3 also included Emiliano Martinez (Aston Villa) and Thibaut Courtois (Real Madrid), who won the award in 2022.

Ederson won the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup in 2023 with Manchester City.

This season, Ederson has played in 23 matches for Manchester City in all competitions and conceded 23 goals. In 7 matches, the Brazilian played to zero.

Ederson’s teammate, forward Erling Haaland, was recognized as the best player of 2023 according to IFFHS.
