Tyson may need more time to prepare for unification fight
Former cruiserweight world champion and now sports analyst, Johnny Nelson I’m not sure that a unification fight in the heavyweight division between the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO world champion Alexander Usik and WBC title holder Tyson Fury will take place as planned.
“If Tyson Fury gets his act together and deals with all his crap, he will beat everyone. His last performance against Ngannou… If he was telling the truth about a full training camp, then he lost his footwork. If he lied about training, then that could change everything.”
“If Fury doesn’t fight on February 17th then it will be a problem for everyone. Because if his father is worried [тренировочным лагерем], then there is a feeling that there may be a delay, they may need more time. I wouldn’t be surprised if they want to move the fight a little further.”
The Usik-Fury fight for the title of absolute heavyweight champion is officially scheduled for February 17 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Initially, they wanted to organize the fight on December 23 in Riyadh. However, it later became clear that the “Gypsy King” would not have time to prepare for this time after the fight with Francis Ngannou at the end of October.
Fury defeated Ngannou via split decision. It was reported that the Briton received two cuts in a fight with the former UFC champion.
Usik fought his last fight on August 27 in Wroclaw, Poland. The Ukrainian knocked out Daniel Dubois in the 9th round and defended his championship titles.
