Choreographer Alexey Zheleznyakov, in an interview with , revealed the details of the departure of the skater coach from the staff Eteri Tutberidze .
Zheleznyakov collaborated with Tutberidze throughout his career in Russia and left the team in November.
— What is the reason why Eteri Tutberidze left the headquarters?
– Without a doubt, this is a huge event for me, the main thing this year. 15 years of working in a team of this level, leaving is difficult. I am a very busy person – I already have two branches of my own choreographic studios, numerous training camps, master classes and a catastrophic lack of time. I had to skip classes. No coach will like that – and that makes sense.
I was in an away training camp and heard they were looking for a replacement for me. I didn’t learn this from the coaching staff, but from strangers. It was a shame, because it was easy to call my colleagues and talk to them about it. If they had told me directly it would have been easier.
I was offended, but then I realized that everything was going that way. I let go of the situation, the grievances disappeared. You have to leave nicely, that’s what I did: I took my leave, I said thanks for everything and I continued on my way. There always comes a time in life when you have to move on to a new stage. We separated without problems or grievances. It’s not practical to let the team down. But you have to develop yourself, devote a lot of time to your business, and invest yourself entirely in it.
— You said you were looking for a replacement. Maybe it was someone in a relationship, right?
— I still don’t understand the situation: they hired a second person as a full replacement or only for the time I left. I repeat once again – you could call and say: “Alexei, such a situation happened.” It was not at the instigation of Tutberidze, but at the initiative of the guys who led the children. It turned out ugly,” Zheleznyakov told .
