Russian figure skater Anastasia Michina practicing pair skating with Alexander Galliamov talked about his favorite program.
During the 2020/21 season, Mishina and Gallyamov’s short program was set to the ballet “Esmeralda” by Italian composer Cesar Pugni. The couple performed this program at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing, where they won gold in the team tournament and bronze in the pairs sports competition.
– It’s interesting, this is a program that I didn’t like at first – “Esmeralda”. When they played it for us, the music stuck in my head and it was like Groundhog Day: you wake up and you have the same melody in your head. But then this program became my favorite. Probably because Alexander Alexandrovich Stepin took part in his choreography. I studied with him since childhood, I always really liked his classes. He has a very interesting approach to work. He could have scolded, but in such a way that it was not offensive and even funny,” Mishina said at the Championship.
In December, Mishina and Gallyamov won the Russian championship for the second time in their careers. The tournament took place in Chelyabinsk.
