“A story that will last a lifetime.” Domnina – about Kostomarov’s first time on ice after surgery

Wife of Olympic figure skating champion Romana Kostomarova Oksana Domnine said that her husband’s first appearance on the ice after an illness remains etched in her memory for the rest of her life.

Kostomarov appeared on skates at the end of Domnina’s show with Maxim Shabalin at Ilya Averbukh’s anniversary show. On December 11, Roman posted a video on his Telegram channel about how he went out on the ice on skates for the first time after amputations. On Sunday he appeared on the ice during the show, the audience greeted him standing, people sat down only at the end of the show, many could not hold back their tears.

— What were your feelings when Roman first appeared on Ilya Averbukh’s show and everyone greeted him so warmly?

– Everyone was waiting for this. I am very happy that everything went well. The way the audience received Roman was an indescribable feeling. A story that will last a lifetime,” reports a correspondent, according to Domnina.

Kostomarov, partnered with Tatyana Navka, won gold at the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin, and also won the World Championships twice and the European Championships three times.
