Arsenal with Zinchenko lost to West Ham and remained in second place in the Premier League

Arsenal unexpectedly gave in West Ham in the home match of the 19th round English Premier League – 0:2.

The Hammers took the lead in the 13th minute thanks to a controversial goal from Tomas Soucek. VAR ruled that the ball had not left the field of play during Jerrod Bowen’s assist.

The Gunners created several dangerous chances near the opponent’s goal, but they failed to equalize the score before the end of the first half.

And at the beginning of the second half of the meeting, West Ham scored again. Former Arsenal player Konstantinos Mavropanos scored from the corner. In stoppage time, the guests had an excellent opportunity to bring the score to a crushing one – David Raya parried Said Benrahm’s shot from the 11-meter mark.

Arsenal, despite their best efforts, left the field without scoring goals. This is the second defeat for Mikel Arteta’s team against West Ham this season. In November, the Gunners lost away to West Ham in the 1/8 finals of the English League Cup – 1:3.

Ukrainian defender Alexander Zinchenko started for Arsenal. He was replaced in the 64th minute with the score 0:2.

Arsenal failed to beat West Ham at home for the first time since 2015. The Hammers won their third victory in the Premier League in a row.

The Gunners remained in second place in the Premier League, two points behind Liverpool. West Ham scored 33 points and moved up to sixth position.

In the next round, Arsenal will play away against Fulham on December 31. West Ham host Brighton on January 2.
