The Ukrainian defeated Maddison Inglis from Australia in three sets
Ukrainian tennis player Yulia Starodubtseva reached the final qualifying stage of the tournament WTA 500 in Australian Brisbane.
Julia beat wild card holder Maddison Inglis in three sets. The Ukrainian won the first set, then lost the second game. In the deciding set, Starodubtseva led with two breaks. The Australian reduced the gap several times, but Yulia brought the match to victory.
In the qualifying final, Starodubtseva has a chance to meet another Ukrainian, Dayana Yastremska. To do this, Dayane needs to beat Xie Shuwei from Taiwan.
In January 2024, Starodubtseva will play at the Australian Open. The Ukrainian will begin her debut Australian major with qualifying.
