Double Olympic figure skating champion Evgeny Plushenko declared that new sports would be developed in its academy “Plushenko’s Angels”.
On December 15, a new branch of the Plushenko Academy of Angels was opened in Moscow, where it was announced that an ice dance department would be created there under the leadership of coach Natalya Linichuk.
— Our academy provides initial training, the junior team and the adult team also train here. We have singles and pairs skating, and now we have launched an ice dance department, headed by our great specialist Natalya Vladimirovna Linichuk, who returned from America.
Why was the Moscow region chosen for the academy? I have lived here for more than 10 years, it is very comfortable to work and train here – we run both in summer and in winter. For now, we have an arena where only figure skaters train. There is not enough ice, but there is a lot of demand, for example for hockey. So we are going to build another ice rink. We are currently negotiating with Valery Kamensky to create his school. He also lives nearby.
Additionally, there are demands for short track speed skating, curling, synchronized skating, athletics and tennis. We are planning to open a football academy. In general, we want to create such an Olympic village so that there are different sports here, ”the press service of the government and the governor of the Moscow region said, quoting Plushenko.
The first branch of the Plushenko Academy of Angels opened in the Russian capital in April 2017.
