Athletistic / Hockey. Russian Olympic figure skating champion Roman Kostomarov has been named Russia’s best athlete based on 2023 results.
“It’s difficult for me to name the best. I spent six months in the hospital, I didn’t see or hear anything. But, like many, I often hear the name Alexander Ovechkin. He is wonders in the NHL”, Sport-Express quotes Kostomarov.
Alexander Ovechkin has been playing in the NHL for the Washington Capitals since 2005. The Russian has currently scored 828 goals in the regular season games of the North American League and ranks second in the list of the best snipers of all time . Wayne Gretzky’s record is 66 shots.
Roman Kostomarov fell ill with pneumonia in January 2023. The illness led to complications, the athlete developed limb necrosis. For this reason, doctors had to partially amputate Roman’s limbs. He is now continuing the rehabilitation and prosthetic processes.
