Inoue is ESPN’s Fighter of the Year

The Japanese became the absolute world champion in two weight categories

Absolute world champion in two weight categories Naoya Inoue recognized best boxer 2023 according to ESPN.

The Japanese won all the bantamweight belts in December 2022, after which he rose to the second bantamweight division. Inoue defeated Stephen Fulton by TKO in the eighth round in July to win the WBC and WBO titles. Then in December, Naoya scored an early victory over Filipino Marlon Tapales, taking the IBF and WBA belts.

Inoue plans to return to the ring next May. It is expected that the Japanese’s opponent will be former two-division champion Louis Neri.
