Athletistic / Others. Three-time Olympic figure skating champion Irina Rodnina has explained why she decided to support Vladimir Putin’s candidacy in the 2024 Russian presidential elections.

“I don’t see any other options. Given Putin’s colossal experience, it will be difficult for him to find competitors. He has brought our country to a position where we have the opportunity to develop and move forward. Of course, “People trust him. Remember the time when he had just come to power. Now we have a completely different country, and we will support and work for our future with our president,” Rodnina said, as quoted by Sport24.

Irina Rodnina is currently a deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation. Russian presidential elections are scheduled for March 17, 2024. Note that Vladimir Putin first became head of state on December 31, 1999, when Boris Yeltsin resigned from his post. Putin went on to win presidential elections in 2000, 2004, 2012 and 2018. From 2008 to 2012, he served as Prime Minister of Russia.
