French skier Luca Shanava won the freestyle sprint race during the first stage of the Tour de Ski stage race in Toblach, Italy.
Shanava clocked 2 minutes 35.75 seconds in the deciding race. His compatriot Jules Chappa (+0.22) finished second, and the American Ben Ogden (+0.49) third.

The Swede won the women’s competition. Lynn Swan – 3 minutes 1.22 seconds. Sweden’s Joanna Sundling (+0.07) took silver, while the top three were completed by Norway’s Kristin Skistad (+0.29).

As part of the second stage of the Tour de Ski, a classic-style 10 km race with a time trial will take place on Sunday.
