Ukrainian middleweight boxer Sergey Derevyanchenko (14-5, 10 KO) was injured in training camp before the fight against the American Rowdy Montgomery (10-5-1, 7 KOs).

The details of the Ukrainian’s injury are not reported. However, Sergei’s injury affected the fight with Montgomery – the fight was cancelled.

The fight between Derevyanchenko and Montgomery was scheduled to take place on January 6, 2024 in Las Vegas. The central event of the boxing evening will be the return of WBO International welterweight title holder Virgil Ortiz in a fight with Fredrick Lawson.

Earlier, Derevyanchenko said that he plans to perform in the professional arena for about two more years. The Ukrainian’s main goal is to win the title.

In his last fight, Derevyanchenko lost to Mexican Jaime Munguia by decision. At the end of 12 rounds, all three referees gave victory to the Mexican boxer – 115:112, 114:113, 114:113.
