Athletistic / Others. President of the All-Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation (VFHG) Irina Viner assessed the likelihood of Russian athletes returning to international competitions in 2024.

“Now I am no longer interested in international competitions as they are now. To die and speak with the hope that we will return is humiliating both for me and for my athletes, who work very hard, are very motivated and invest a lot of effort, time and talent to be more beautiful, taller, faster and stronger.

If they do not participate in international tournaments, it is not our problem, but that of those who do not allow them to do so. They will definitely answer these questions. Maybe not today, or tomorrow. But they will answer very well for all this: for Pierre de Coubertin and his Olympic motto,” Wiener quoted Sport24 as saying.

On March 28, 2023, following the results of the IOC Executive Committee, the head of the organization, Thomas Bach, clarified the conditions under which Russian and Belarusian athletes will be allowed to participate in international competitions. Among them, a clause appeared according to which athletes who have a contract with the Russian or Belarusian security services (army, police, national guard) have no right to be allowed to participate in international competitions.

Four students of Irina Viner became Olympic champions. She is a Hero of Labor of the Russian Federation, Honored Worker of Physical Culture of the Russian Federation (1997) and also a full holder of the Order for Merit to the Fatherland.
