The Ukrainian center only recently concluded a bilateral agreement with the Knicks
New York Knicks Ukrainian center expelled Dmitry Skapintsev just ten days after signing a bilateral contract with him.
Let us remind you that on December 23, it was announced that a bilateral agreement had been signed between the National Basketball Association team and the 25-year-old player. On the same day, Skapintsev made his debut in the NBA, becoming the ninth Ukrainian in the history of the league. Dmitry managed to play twice for the Knicks – he spent about a minute on the court, and was not particularly effective.
New York recently made a big trade with the Toronto Raptors. Among others, the team was joined by Nigerian center Precious Achiuwa. Apparently, for his sake, they had to free up the slot for a bilateral contract, which Skapintsev had previously occupied.
The Ukrainian will continue to perform at the level at which he performed previously – in the NBA Development League (NBA G League) for the Westchester Knicks, a New York farm club. On average, Dmitry spent 18.6 minutes on the floor for this team, scored 5.9 points, made 4.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists.
The Knicks are in seventh place in the NBA’s Eastern Conference. Westchester is at the bottom of the G League East Division standings.
