Vitaly Kalinichenko and Evgeniy Marusyak took places in the top 30 of the qualifying round in Innsbruck
Two Ukrainians for the first time in history managed to get into the main round of the competition at Four Hills Tour. Vitaly Kalinichenko And Evgeniy Marusyak successfully qualified for the third stage in the Austrian Innsbruck.
Kalinichenko jumped 120.5 meters and took 24th place, scoring 102 points. Marusyak managed to jump 119.5 meters, and with 99 points he became 27th. Note that Kalinichenko received higher wind correction points because he jumped in less favorable conditions.
50 athletes will take part in the main round of competition in Innsbruck, who will be divided into pairs in the first round based on their qualifying results. Kalinichenko will have a duel with four-time Olympic champion Simon Ammann from Switzerland. Marusyak will face Austrian Clemens Aigner.
Let us note that Kalinichenko took 47th place at the previous stage of the Tour in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. In the first attempt of the main round, the Ukrainian jumped 120 meters and scored 107.0 points.
The main competition of the third stage in Innsbruck will take place on January 3. The Four Hills Tour will end in Bischofshofen, Austria on January 6.
