Athletistic / Chess. Russian grandmaster Sergei Karyakin told an unpleasant story that happened to him in the zone of special military operations (SVO). According to Karyakin, he had an accident while transporting humanitarian aid to the Kherson region.

“I visit the Northern Military District about once a month, and a recent trip turned out to be very unsuccessful. In November, we were delivering humanitarian aid to our soldiers and had a very serious accident. I was with my friends, the car overturned several times, but, thank God, everyone remained alive.

I actually broke a few ribs, it still hurts a little, but overall it’s okay. This happened in the Kherson region,” Karyakin is quoted as saying by RIA Novosti.

Karjakin spoke about his disqualification by FIDE

Remember that Karyakin had already been suspended from international competitions. The International Chess Federation (FIDE) suspended the grandmaster for publicly supporting the holding of the SBO. In December 2023, it became known that the chess player had joined “Putin’s team”.
