The head coach of the Russian track cycling team, Sergei Kovpanets, said that it is now possible to say that Russian athletes will miss the European Championships in the Netherlands.
The tournament starts in Apeldoorn on January 10. Russian athletes can participate in the largest cycling competitions at the international level with a neutral status. However, the Netherlands, as host country, refused to accept athletes from Russia and Belarus, even in neutral status.
“The athletes asked for clarification, but as we see, the situation has not progressed at all. Now we can already say that none of the Russian athletes will go to the European Championships. We skip this beginning. The next championships ahead of us are the European Championship in Germany and the World Championship in China,” Kovpanets told .
