According to , the International Skating Union (ISU) is not yet interested in admitting Russian skaters to international competitions in the context of the situation in Ukraine.
Since the ISU congress, which was held at the beginning of June, no official decision has been taken on this subject. However, many union members still view the possibility of allowing the Russians to start negatively, even though competition organizers risk facing disaffection from spectators without Russian national team skaters.
Only the ISU Council, whose next meeting is scheduled for September 7, can overturn the decision to exclude the Russians.
In the spring, the ISU banned Russians and Belarusians from participating in competitions under its auspices due to the crisis in Ukraine.
