Athletistic/Chess. President of the Russian Chess Federation Alexander Tkachev commented on the behavior of Polish chess player Jan-Krzysztof Duda, who refused to shake hands with Russian Denis Khismatullin during the World Rapid Chess Championship.

Khismatullin approached the table where his 25-year-old opponent was already sitting, stretched out his hand to shake his hand, but Duda refused this gesture.

Tkachev noted that such behavior indicates a lack of basic education and labeling. He emphasized that chess traditions did not appear yesterday and such manifestations of disrespect towards them indicate a low level of education.

The match ended in a draw, and despite the possibility of Duda’s disqualification, Khismatullin did not file a complaint in accordance with the rules of “fair play”.
