Coaches of Russian national cycling teams told that with the current selection system, Russians have a chance of qualifying for the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
“We haven’t even approved a freestyle selection system yet, but for them and for BMX flying, the selection ends in 2024. We are monitoring the situation. There is always hope,” said Pavel Kostyukov , head coach of the Russian BMX team.
— I looked at the new selection system. Our rating opens in October this year. We have riders in professional teams. Alexander Vlasov and the same Tamara Dronova who scores points. So there will be a possibility to qualify, the ranking ends at the end of October 2023, – said the head coach of the Russian national highway cycling team Irakli Abrahamyan.
Earlier, Russian national track cycling team head coach Sergey Kovpanets said the approved selection system gave trackers hope for a performance in Paris.
– We have time to solve all the problems in case of admission next year. The last qualifying world championship will take place in 2023, he concluded.
The mountain bike qualification classification closes on May 28, 2024.
