Athletistic / Figure skating. Famous choreographer Alexei Zheleznyakov shared his opinion on the level of women’s singles skating in Russia. He compared the results of the national championship in Chelyabinsk with the last world tournaments.
“The level of the Russian championship is high. Look how cool our girls are! The new generation is taking the place of the girls who achieved the best results before.
I think our level is simply the highest. If you compare this with the World and European Championships, look what is happening there in women’s single skating. Is this a level comparable to that of Russia? They don’t even stand next to us,” Zheleznyakov said, as quoted by Metaratings.ru.
Adelia Petrosyan became Russian champion at the end of December. Sofia Muravyova won second place at the national championship. Kamila Valieva came third.
Note that since March 2022, Russian figure skaters have been deprived of the opportunity to participate in international tournaments due to events in Ukraine.
