Ukraine won a medal in Wushu at the World Games

Our team fell to the top three in the medal standings of the tournament.

The 2022 World Games continues in Birmingham (Alabama, USA), where the Ukrainian team is participating.

On the fifth day of the competition, our team won a medal – in wushu (martial arts). He returned to the competition program nine years later after he was included by World Games organizers.

Ukrainian Roman Reva became bronze medalist of the 2022 World Games in taolu – a set of exercises done by the athlete himself. In this sport, Ukrainian Yana Poltoratskaya had a chance to get a medal, but she stopped one step away from the podium.

Reva’s medal was the 24th for Ukraine at the 2022 World Games and the first in nine years in wushu – in 2013, Dmitry Batok became a bronze medalist in the men’s sanda (weight up to 85 kg) – a competition if where athletes conduct contact fights.

As a result of today, Ukraine lost in the TOP-3 of the medal standings. At the same time, our country continues to be in the top three in the total number of medals.

World Games medal standings

  1. Germany – 27 medals (16 gold + 2 silver + 9 bronze);
  2. Hungary – 23 medals (10 gold + 6 silver + 7 bronze);
  3. Colombia – 20 medals (9 gold + 8 silver + 3 bronze);
  4. Ukraine – 24 medals (9 gold + 6 silver + 9 bronze);
  5. Italy – 36 medals (8 gold + 16 silver + 12 bronze);
  6. Japan – 21 medals (8 gold + 5 silver + 8 bronze);
  7. China – 12 medals (7 gold + 4 silver + 1 bronze);
  8. France – 21 medals (4 gold + 7 silver + 10 bronze).
  9. Denmark – 6 medals (4 gold + 2 silver + 0 bronze);
  10. Belgium – 7 medals (4 gold + 0 silver + 3 bronze).

In total, 346 medals were awarded at the World Games, and representatives of 61 countries rose to the podium.
