The top 5 included Haaland, Vinicius, Rodrygo and Saka
Midfielder for Real Madrid and England Jude Bellingham topped the rating the most expensive football players in the world according to CIES Football Observatory. The 20-year-old’s estimated transfer fee is 267.5 million euros.
The Norwegian scorer was not far behind Erling Holland (251.2 million) from Manchester City, as well as two of Jude’s teammates, Brazilian strikers Vinicius Junior (250.3 million) and Rodrigo Goes (247.9 million).
German Jamal Musiala (Bayern) is the most expensive representative of the Bundesliga in the new ranking. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (Napoli) is the best of Serie A. The most expensive representative of Ligue 1 predictably remains Kylian Mbappe – and this despite the fact that the once most expensive football player in the world occupies only 27th place in the current ranking (106.2 million euros).
According to analysts, the summer 2023 transfer window has provoked a sharp increase in prices for football players. Thus, in comparison with the previous CIES Football Observatory rating, published in June last year, the number of players whose transfer value exceeds 100 million euros has almost doubled – from 20 to 39 people.
Bellingham is having a phenomenal season. In 22 appearances for Real Madrid, where he joined only last summer, the young Englishman scored 17 goals and provided five assists.
Last year, Jude was recognized as the best young footballer by the IFFHS, and before that he won the Raymond Cop prize from France Football for the best young player of the year and won the Golden Boy 2023 award.
