Athletistic/Chess. Polish politician, member of the Confederation Party Jacek Wilk, expressed his disapproval of the behavior of his compatriot, chess player Jan-Krzysztof Duda, who refused to shake hands with Russian chess player Denis Khismatullin during the World Rapid Championship.

The incident occurred on December 26 before a match in the first round of the World Rapid Championship in Samarkand (Uzbekistan). Khismatullin extended his hand to Duda, but he refused to shake it.

Wilk stressed that sport was supposed to become an alternative to politics and considers the mixing of politics and sport unacceptable. He wrote on social media that the decision to engage in sports or politics should be made by the athlete himself.

  • Karpov: “How to perceive the situation is Khismatoullin’s personal business. But Duda broke the rules”
