The former WBO world champion believes that the fight for the absolute title will continue with a rematch
Former WBO heavyweight world champion Joe Joyce believes that the champion according to WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO Alexander Usik and WBC title holder Tyson Fury have an equal chance in the fight for the undisputed heavyweight title.
“This is the fight everyone wants to see. I thought the guys would fight a lot earlier, before Fury faced Ngannou in October.”
“Tyson Fury is taller and has a reach advantage, but Usyk throws more punches and is more skilled in the southpaw stance. So the chances are 50/50. I’m not sure who will win, but I know for sure that we will see a rematch.”
The Usik-Fury fight for the title of absolute heavyweight champion will officially take place on February 17 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Initially, the fight was planned to be organized on December 23 in Riyadh. However, it later became clear that Tyson would not have time to prepare for this time after the fight with Francis Ngannou at the end of October.
Fury defeated Ngannou via split decision. It was reported that the Briton received two cuts in a fight with the former UFC champion.
Usik fought his last fight on August 27 in Wroclaw, Poland. The Ukrainian knocked out Daniel Dubois in the 9th round and defended his championship titles.
