Ukrainian Mandzii was 0.001 seconds short of gold at the luge Nations Cup stage

Andrey repeated his best result over the past year

Ukrainian athlete Andrey Mandziy stopped within a split second of his first stage gold Luge Nations Cup. Silver medal won in German Winterbergbecame his highest award after last year’s Sigulda.

The 35-year-old Ukrainian luger showed a time of 53.012, only one thousandth of a second behind the winner, Kaspars Rinks from Latvia. Another Ukrainian Anton Dukach, finished in the top 5. Our third compatriot who took part in the competition was Daniil Martsinovskyshowed the 18th result.

The Winterberg Nations Cup is the third of the 2023/24 season. This was the second medal for the Ukrainians – earlier Dukach won bronze at the stage in Whistler, Canada.

The Winterberg World Cup, a higher-level competition where Ukrainian lugers have not yet won any medals, starts tomorrow, January 6.
