The Gunners coach is optimistic and does not even rule out the Ukrainian starting for Liverpool
Head coach Arsenal Mikel Arteta spoke about the condition of the Ukrainian defender Alexandra Zinchenko two days before the confrontation with Liverpool V FA Cup.
“He is progressing well. Tomorrow we have another training session, and we will assess whether he is ready to play, maybe even from the start,” the coach noted.
Let us remember that earlier in January Arteta announced that the 27-year-old Ukrainian was experiencing problems with the calf muscle. Due to injury, Alexander missed the last match of the year against Fulham, which the Gunners lost with a score of 1:2.
Arsenal was even ready to recall Kieran Tierney from his loan in the event of a serious injury to Zinchenko – but it seems that force majeure measures will not be necessary.
This season Zinchenko has played 24 matches for the Gunners in all competitions. The 27-year-old defender has one goal and one assist.
On January 7, Mikel Arteta’s team will play against Liverpool in the FA Cup. For the first time in a home match, Arsenal players will wear the symbolic white No More Red uniform.
