Ukrainian epee fencers won gold at the Junior World Cup in Udine

The first gold medal for our juniors this season

Fédée fencers Anna Maksimenko, Emily Conrad, Alina Dmitruk And Alexandra Romanova as part of Ukrainian national team won the stage gold medal Junior World Cup 2023/24 in Italian Udine.

Our juniors consistently won victories over the teams of China (45:42), Hungary (41:40), Poland (45:42) and Italy (33:32).

This “gold” was the first for young Ukrainian epee fencers in the team competition of the 2023/24 season.

In the men’s competition, the Ukrainian junior team consisting of Daniil Mazur, Maxim Perchuk, Roman Samoilov and Dmitry Plaksin was unable to compete for medals. Our athletes, having beaten China and Spain, lost to their peers from Hungary in the quarterfinals and ultimately took fifth place in the tournament.

The next competitions within the Junior World Cup in epee fencing will be held at the end of January in Manama, Bahrain, and Maalot, Israel.
